Flint axe: The axe head is made out of local flint and started off as a block about 1ft. x 0.5ft. it was then shaped into a roughout by knapping it with hard quartzite hammerstones from West Runton near Cromer. The roughout was then shaped and thinned into an axe head using softer antler hammers from all over the UK (mainly Scotland). the blade was pressure flaked to achieve a sturdy and longer-lasting blade.
